Re: Bush Bean Spacing now tomato plants

Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html

Hi Sara,
I'm in Mt. zone 5. I just got my tomato transplants in two days ago because
of the cool wet weather we have had this year. Over the last 20 odd years
here we have put them in any time between early may and the middle of June
depending on the kind of spring we have and they have done just fine with not
a lost of time difference in them ripening. I haven't noticed any particular
difference in the amout they produced either. Although people who put them
out in hot caps, row cover or wows have an earlier longer harvest. I don't
know if that helps or not.
Btw, I learned a neat trick I thought I'd pass it on: on another list Doug
says takes a thin rubber(surgical) glove put in on then put a thick cloth
glove on over it and saturate it with weed killer and the rub it on the
individual weed with out touching other plants. Certainly not for use in
our veggie beds, but a great way to get rid of grass and such in flower beds
I needed that garden hat today it was wonderful to have sunshing for the
whole day---yesterday too most of the day(it rained last night and might
tonight as well) tomorrow looks promising too---hope things settle into good
weather soon. I have this fantacy of warm not hot days and rain only every
Wed. night. Oh well I can dream, can't I. I wouldn't do well in Washinton
state I guess , although it sounds like they have wonderful gardens there.

Ps for all who were interested I cut back the butterfly bush almost to the
ground and finally found some green in the center----here's hoping.
