I use 18" H freeform raised beds in two areas of my garden. The Lettuce Beds
(has lettuce, spinach, radishes, onions and carrots...don't know why I call
them the Lettuce Beds). And, the Gas Bed (has cabbage, broccoli and herbs).

In the other beds, I don't really bother.
