Re: Brussels Sprouts, was Re: SQFT: the list has moved already!


Hi Bill:

I have raised Brussell Sprouts but not this fall got too late to get them
in.    I have had pretty good luck but no luck with Fall planting  but no
luck at all in Spring - too hot too fast I guess.  Anyway, I always pinch
off the top growth when the sprouts begin to size up.  I keep off the old
or yellow lower leaves but I believe it is the leaves that feed the sprouts
so I save as many of those as possible. I  could be wrong since I am no
expert but they did seem to get larger faster after I pinched off the
growing tip.  No energy growing up I guess.

Hope that helps some - I would be interested in hearing how other people
are successful with Sprouts  as I love them fresh from the garden and
although It gets cold here, I had them coming most of the winter.  They are
wonderful and taste nothing like what you buy!
