Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
Hi all,
This is my first year SFG and the first time I've grown a variety of
herbs. My question is, can I take some out of the garden, plant in a
pot/planter and keep indoors over the winter? We've already had several
hard frosts but most of my herbs are still hanging in there, i.e.,
oregano, thyme, parsley, chives and mint. We've been blessed with
70-degree weather for the past few days (very uncharacteristic for this
time of year)!!
I'd like some fairly detailed instructions, if someone wouldn't mind
helping me. Just so you know, I have a window-box planter (made of
plastic and portable, so to speak) and thought I might be able to plant
my herbs in there. Could I just use potting soil or what would be
best? The mint and chives are the only ones that I believe are
perennials so I'm assuming, if I can keep the others going throughout
the winter, that I could replant them in my garden next spring, right?
Has anyone else succeeded at doing this in a similar zone or otherwise?
Thanks in advance.
Sincerely,
Marlene
