It could, if the virus warning were a hoax. Unfortunately, this was the
exception to the rule. The virus warning in question was a real warning
about a real virus that is really dangerous to many people who use
Micro$oft's crappy software.

The solution is to LEARN about your computer and software, and never just
let software run in the default configuration thinking that "Certainly the
people who programmed this software know what they are doing and have my
safety and security in mind when they configure the default settings."
because they DO NOT.

All they care about is market share. Defective software that LOOKS GOOD on
the surface will be shipped in the configuration they feel will get them
the most users. The fact that the software is defective (buggy) or has
little or none of the basic security features that older software had
(because said security interferes with the new "features" they felt
compelled to add) has no impact on their product development process or
shipping schedules.

ObSqFt: I'd love some hints about square foot gardening in window
boxes. I'm soil-less at present (living in a condo as my house was sold
and I wasn't able to find another house on the notice I had to move and
start a new job).

TIA
