Burpee's "Ruby Queen" is a red se type but not as good as some of the
other se types IMO, Burpee's "Breeders Choice", for example. Burpee
introduced "Ruby Queen" in 1998 but I didn't get around to trying it
until this fall. Seed is a bit pricey - about 2-3 times more than
others.

Re Indian corn, We find the blue Navajo ceremonial corn edible and easy
to grow but it is a flint corn and isn't sweet. Makes okay corn meal
and somewhat ghastly looking fried mush but tastes okay.

I noticed one seed catalog claims the black Aztec corn came from the
Iroquois (Seneca). Wonder how it traveled from Mexico to New York.

Speaking of All America winners, I tested the hybrid version of Juliet
tomato this year as part of the blind "Internet Tomato Trials". It was
the most productive tomato I have ever seen - big bunches of up to 17
tomatoes in a cluster - but somewhat disappointing in flavor.
