Re: wire mesh?
I don't know what you would call it in the UK but hardware cloth
or wire mesh here can be bought in various mesh grades. It is
made of woven mesh, as in window screens, and is soldered at the
intersections. You can bend it easily and straight if you place it
between two boards and clamp. Then use a hammer to bend it.
One inch grade is the most stubborn to bend except the hammer
males it easy. Being quite stiff it will hod shape quite well. Use
two strips 1 ft. wide by 3 ft. long to form even sided u shaped parts.
Two of these would make a cage 1 cubic foot in size which is the
recommended space for lettuce I believe. You could use 1/2 inch
mesh if there are a lot of baby bunnies around. One quarter gets a
little wimpy and would be overkill.
Sorry I don't happen to know the metric conversion to inches.
Chicken wire would make a good enough fence around the whole
bed if fastened to 2*2 corner posts. You may have to use screws
or nails to hold them if the posts are less than a foot in the ground.
If you go with chicken wire it should go at least a foot above the
beds. Any more than 2 foot would be an inconvenience to you.
