Re: storing seeds for better germination

Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html

Margaret,

I know how you feel.. I just got around to planting a bunch of "fall/winter"
stuff. As usual I am about 2 weeks late for my zone.
I am in part 8, part 9 depending upon where things are planted on our
property, and a bunch of other stuff. Anyway, since this is my first
attempt at square foot gardening...I am really freaked out about only
planting one seed for each designated space. I couldn't help it...I planted
about 2 or 3 just to be safe.

I am using some seeds that are a year old, and others that are for 1999. I
hate to think that I might end up with something that won't germinate. I
figured I had a better chance this way. I'll just be ruthless and snip off
the weaker of the two when, and if they sprout.

When seeds were free, and I germinated a bunch, I wasn't as worried.

Any hints about this stuff?

worried,
Peg
