I'm still fussing with my compost, about ready to plant the fall/winter stuff 
(a bit behind schedule, but not by much for Southern Cal).  The big hold-up 
has been wondeful fruit at the farmers market -- got over fifty pints of 
plum, peach, strawberry, grape and orange marmalade nestled in my cabinet.  
The canning has cut into my gardening energy.
These will be my first ever square foot gardens.  I've got three -- two 4x4, 
one 4x8, exteriors of rough-cut redwood.  The main pests around here are 
rabbits, ground squirrels, and those rotten danged SNAILS.  The snail take 
daily attention -- they slime up on my tomatoes and munch.  I despise them -- 
at least the bunnies are cute.
