Sweet Potato Harvest from an OSFGwV

Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html

My Sweet Potato harvest is in, according to my scale I got about 42.5 pounds
of sweets from a bed 34" x 93", or 22 square feet. I planted 12 slips of
Georgia Jet that I got from Mapple Farm in New Brunswick, in a 2 x 10 lumber
box, amended with peat moss and vermicompost, covered in IRT plastic.

My reading of Ken Allan's book suggests that the Canadian record is 2 lbs
per square foot, so I am in the ballpark....:-)

Said sweets are now being cured in paper bags, down in the laundry room,
heated to 90 degrees F, as recommended by Mr. Allan, for the rest of the
week....

Taste tests will come later, as curing and aging are supposed to improve the
flavor...

Some of these Georgia Jets are pretty big tubers, I tell ya.....:-)

Frank Tuber Teuton, tootin' about his rootin'.....:-)
