Fogbound looked much better this morning
after a cool night and some water after the 100+ degree day we had
yesterday. But it was just as hot today, and it looked fine when I got
home this evening, so it obviously has staying power.
Here is another example of the difference in
color depending on region. Please refer to the inside back cover of the current
AIS bulletin. You will see a picture of fogbound that was obviously grown
in a much different climate that Phoenix.
The color is darker and the flower form is
completely different. Phoenix (and Dallas apparently) produce colors
that can be much lighter than irises blooming up north, and flowers that are
smaller. This is a first year growth however. Next year the flower
will be much bigger, especially if it does not warm up as fast as it did this
