SCARLET BUTTERFLY (1st)


TB, historic.  Austin, '59.  For true red, I haven't seen any other iris
even approach the color this has on the falls.  I'm going to follow this
photo with another bloom taken on the same clump, at the same time so you
can see a varience in the color of the standards.  These are rosy, the next
ones are nearly yellow.  It's a normal variation for this cultivar.  The
falls don't vary.  This is a simple, graceful plant that remains one of my
favorites.
