Donald, your photo definitely looks like my old favorite, MULBERRY
ROSE. I remember that, after seeing a photo, you wondered if my
seedling S1bwh: ((I. pallida x MULBERRY ROSE) X bee) has any aril
ancestry. Sounds like you're not the only one to confuse the appearance
of MR with arilbred breeding.
Although it can get a bit washed out in color in hot dry weather, when
it blooms in cool wet weather, MR is almost fluorescent purple here.
