RE: SDB Flower Bud


Here is an interesting flower bud. It is of an SDB seedling that is peach 
with a purple fall spot. Fall spots are usually with pigment only on upper 
part of falls, yet colour shows very strongly on bottom of falls in this 
seedling. 
Of note, SDB spot is like the spot on TB that are referred to as Umbrata spot 
or variagata spot that are also only pigmented with anthocyanin on top 
epidermal layer , and not on lower layer of epidermis. 

In this case I suspect lower layer of epidermis to be transparent or 
semi-transparent , rather then pigmented.

Has anyone else noted this  on underside of falls on any iris with fall spot?
