Re: CULT: Way too many

Loic  --  I haven't been in Holland, so I don't know what neighborhoods may look like, but in most American cities and towns there is a paved sidewalk in front of the house and a strip of lawn 4-6 feet wide between the sidewalk and the street.  Sometimes, people plant flowers, trees, etc. in that strip, but at some risk.  In many, if not most, communities, that strip of land belongs to the municipality.  A member of our iris society discovered that the hard way when, having run out of lawn, he began planting irises in the strip.  It wasn't long before people began driving up, getting out their shovels, and digging up the irises they wanted.  When he protested, they informed him that the ground was theirs, and kept digging.  After that, he was careful not to plant anything there that he couldn't afford to lose.

So, welcome to the company of lawn sacrificers, but there's a limit, even there.  --  Griff

I had the same problem last year...i ended up with 1000 seedlings!

It seemed a lot at the time,
but this year is worse...there shoud be 10 000 seedlings!

Time of replanting is approaching, and i won't have the courage to dig enough beds for them all.

The choice is going to be drastic:

Most TB X TB will have to disapear, they take too much room, and Holland is such a small country!

I'll keep only the small and middle ones, that have rebloomers in they ancestors.

That should reduce the lot by half.

I still have a month to dig...
i guess even the lawn will have to go!

In the past I had very poor germination. I had the pots sitting on a cement wall. This year I sunk them in the ground. During the winter I had nightmares that all would germinate ( around 2000 seeds). Well they almost have.

I do not have the space or energy to plant all of them. Which ones do I save?

This is as bad as trashing seedlings that bloom.
Example of the germination in photo!
