The pun has to do with the current state of the photographer, but it seemed
appropriate for these monstrosities. These are all single blooms, each one
different and all blooming in the same clump. Unfortunately they are only
the more extreme examples. It's been a characteristic of this plant and, to
a lesser degree, of a sibling. I've grown these plants a few years along
with several seedlings that have normal blooms. I'm in a murderous mood
this year, so this will get the shovel. The cross is TENNESSEE GENTLEMAN X
SCOTCH GOLD and has shown no inclination to set seed. That middle photo is
a mess about 8 inches across. A case were the aril and TB genes didn't work
right. But curious.
