Subject: [iris-photos] PHOTO: first 3 pumila seedlings from pum7XTT
Hello everyone.....
I am excited about this cross of (pum 7 X 'Tiny Temptress'). Pum 7 is a pumila seedling of mine. "TT" is a pumila of the Willotts that they registered as an MDB. For once, I had a batch of seedlings that were not all purple. In fact, both last year and this year I have tossed all the purple seedlings for the reasons that their substance was poor or else just because their purple coloring would dominate, and I do not want to hybridize for purple irises. Seedling 1 is a cute lemon yellow with brown rays at the tips of the beards that are white and turn tangerine in the throats. I tore a small piece out of the falls when I was trying to free the bud from the sheath too early. Seedling 2 is in tones of blue and red violet with beards that are near red in the throats. Seedling 3 is a darling little bright white that has distressed blue violet fall patches. Beards are white and turn orange in the throats. Another seedling was purple, but I tossed it out. I will send photos of their siblings tomorrow.
