Love those velvet falls, Linda. :-)  Very showy!  Many times, come it's second year of bloom - buds will increase, branching will become more evident, and the flower form will become even better.  Sometimes unhealthy foliage will become healthy just by moving it to a different area.  I love the color combination too. I hope you consider growing it for another year.

I was going for some kind of red, but sure wasn't expecting anything
this nice from the cross. Pod is a washed out very hafty reddish
seedling from IMM X DUSKY GRAPE. Pollen from showy big variegata
seedling of Robin Shadlow's from GOLDEN IMMORTAL X RIO.

Incredibly rich velvety dark red black. Apologies for touching and
smudging the fall before photograph. I just had to touch it ;-). Few
buds, no branching, unhealthy foliage, white haft lines.
