Not all of Florida is freeze free in winter. Where I am [about 20
miles southwest of Ocala], a typical midwinter day will have a low
temperature of about 40 F, and a high temperature near 70 F. However,
freezes in winter are fairly frequent, and sometime, the temperature drops as
low as the 10's. Last December, it snowed here, but did not stick to the
ground.
So far, it looks like the best Irises for growing here are some of Monty
Byers rebloomers. All bearded Irises have to be grown in pots here.
