Aphyllas have a reputation for not doing well in the south (east?).
Does it have a big (deep) root system? Maybe send it somewhere to
torture, see how it does? FOREVER BLUE hasn't done very well for me
here in the vale of despair, either in pots or in the ground, but a
scrappy little rebloomer that would do well here, regardless of "ugly",
would be a welcome addition. It doesn't look ugly to me, just retro form.

No more retro than BABY BLESSED, which <is> a scrappy little rebloomer
here. It doesn't thrive, but survives, even out amongst the tall summer
weeds when they get away from me.
