Hi Chuck, I'm with Vicki, you can send it to me. If it has been in constant bloom for 2 months and 7 to 10 flowers on 2-3 branches, it should be worth making some crosses with a "pretty" rebloomer. Maybe one of Vicki's reblooming MTBs? Bill From: Chuck Chapman <irischapman@aim.com> To: iris-photos@yahoogroups.com Sent: Wed, August 25, 2010 4:41:55 AM Subject: [iris-photos] RE: Reblooming SDB
Here is a photo of a rebloming SDB.
I'm not sure what to do with this seedling. It is from a bee pod of Forever Blue. Obviously pollen parent was an aphylla, which were in bloom rasonably close. It has been in constant bloom for about two months, and still going strong. Flower is very much aphylla, and not all that pretty and has bad form. But it has three nice branches, and 2-3 flowers per flowering point. So 7-10 nicely spaced and sequential flowers. Reblooms at height of 15-18" This bud count and flower sequence certainly contributes to it long period in flower. New stalks coming up now, so will proably be, for all practical purposes, an everbloomer. But, that flower is so ugly. Lots of SDB seedlings in rebloom. About 30 total. A couple of nice flowers. Last Wed had 18 seedlings in bloom at once. So, What to do with this thing. Chuck Chapman |
