Actually, from what I understand, the AIS Dykes Medal is an award from the British Iris on licence  to AIS. There are other Dykes Medal licences to other nationalities. The original Dykes Medal , is a  British Iris Society award

No, because the American Dykes Medal is just one of a set of Dykes Medals awarded to irises first introduced in different countries.  For example, iris first registered in England were eligible for the Dykes Medal awarded by the British Iris Society.  See:
