Morning all.
I'd sure like to see pix of your village displays,
Jan.

I am sure your list is very long. I have been amazed how much
you have gotten done over the last 2-3 years.
By the Christmas house, do you mean our insane village
displays? We have finished two full large (6 x 8 ft) displays, one smaller
(4 x 4 ft), two small (2 x 2 and 2 x 4). Now we are finishing up the
largest display (5 x 12 ft). Lots of details to work on after we get the
overall finished. Our series of open houses will run 4 days from Jan. 10th
until the 14th. We try to sign up for the January tours rather than those
before Christmas. Makes life a lot easier to get it all finished when we
have the three weeks my daughter has off from teaching to work on
them.
If you are interested, I will send a couple of pics from lasts years
displays. One of those received a 4 page spread in the last Village
Delights magazine. My daughter was delighted to be so
honored.

idea. I will put this on my list which is at the moment a bit long but I will
get to it soon. PS how was the Christmas house? From: "Jan Lauritzen" <janicelauritzen@yahoo.com> To: iris-photos@yahoogroups.com Sent: Sunday, December 25, 2011 3:07:00 PM Subject: Re: [iris-photos] Question Hi Bob,
As I said, I have not been working in the TWiki but just visited
it. I am wondering why the TB letters from F through R have never been
broken up into smaller groupings. It can not be that there are not enough
of them - Gs = 1293, Ls = 1411, Ms = 1984, Ps = 1368, etc. Is there
a reason for these not being broken up? They each take quite awhile to
load.
Thanks, Jan

Encyclopedia now has over 40,000 cultivar pages. The Iris Register I am told has
65,000 registered names and with unregistered, and botanical names included
there should be no more than 80,000 names total, so we are somewhere between 50%
and 60% of complete. It seems likely we will be up to that by this summer.
But we have approximately only 30,000 images.
So you history detectives can help us find many images that are missing. It is a
delight to see pages with 10 to 15 images. So ultimately we
could have over a million images. With now over 300 helpers it is my wish for
the New Year that we can top this last year. Thanks again to everyone and have a
great New Year.
Please excuse my cross posting the good
news. |
