Hi folks,

Dietes bicolor is the yellow one with the
black dot on it. Dietes Irioidies (plus Dietes Grandiflora) are the
while ones with the lavender petals. Grandiflora has a bigger flower
than Irioidies and also grows taller.
Here in Sydney Dietes varieties are used in
parking lot plantings, along highways and other areas where very hardy plants
are required. I've been keeping a log on their bloom sequences over the
last few months it it would appear that they bloom in sequence with a full
moon. I'd be interested to hear if other people have noticed (or may now
observe) the same event in other parts of the planet.
Cheers for now,
Heather Pryor
