This marvelous rebloomer has come out for the third time over the past
4 months. We love having it by the front steps of our home as it
blooms so often that visitors comment on it many times AND we proudly
show it off to prove that iris are not restricted to a few weeks each
spring.
We had three different iris just about ready to bloom any second out
in the back yard but a nasty freeze interfered with our 70º+ weather
this past week and consequently they lost their nerve to show their
colors as well.
Istanbul bloomed twice over the past few months as well but either
Conrad would cut it before I could get a shot of it, or I just totally
forgot to take a photo on a day when it was magnificent.
I love taking iris to school at this time of year to show off to other
flower lovers the wonderful diversity of iris.
I was over at Lew Begley's house the other day and, for those of you
who know the flower, our beloved State Flower, the bluebonnet was
blooming. Quite out of season. Mid April is peak time for people to
drive on Bluebonnet Trails around the state.
Anyway, hope this little ray of sunshine brightens a few faces on the
dreary days of cold in the northern hemisphere.
Jelcy
