RE: Re: HYB: Spartan

Those unplanned crosses can result in some big surprises.  One of my nicest seedlings came from just two pretty blossoms opening at the same time, and I didn’t have anything else to do.  Most of my HYB plans burned up in the Arizona heat this spring.  Half my seeds are from plicatas.  I have no goals involving plicatas, but with parents like Broadband, Lovely Dawn, Epicenter, Fancy Woman and a red seedling out of New Leaf X Ring Around Rosie, I may have some interesting flowers.

Linda,

Because of pest infestation this year, I used what was available and let
me tell you, it sure wasn't much.

SPARTAN X CONJURATION
STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN x SPARTAN

other crosses I pulled off were:
CANAVERAL x DOCTOR NO
THIN BLUE LINE x ZEBRA BLUSH
CLARANCE x FANCY WOMAN
FANCY WOMAN x THIN BLUE LINE
CELEBRATION SONG x UNICORN
UNICORN X (SKY HOOKS x THORNBIRD)
STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN x QUEEN OF ANGELS

My approach was basically "beggars can't be choosers" so I just set out
to have fun with what I had to work with.

Looking forward to next year.
Chris
