RE: WHITE LIGHTNING in Texas

Colleen,

I just studied my photos and yes, I do see the purple color breaks.  I will have to examine my next White Lighting to bloom as I have never noticed it before.  It is actually in both photos now that I study them.  Interesting!

My White Lightning usually looks like yours also, I've never seen the yellow rim on it before. Also mine has never rebloomed. Also given that there is never a trace of blue or mauve in the buds, I was interested to see the purple colur breaks in your second photo. Must be some purple in it's background somewhere.

Donald,

My White Lightning has very bright yellow shoulders and blooms and
reblooms every year.  It is one of my most dependable growers and
rebloomers.

Donald,
my White Lightning looked more like Colleen"s.  The yellow shoulders
were
very conspicuous.  It is a lovely iris.  Unfortunately I lost it to
bloom-out a couple of years ago.

What I grow as WHITE LIGHTNING doesn't quite look like Colleen's photo.
Here it is a bright white.  The yellow on the shoulders is
inconspicuous.
It may be just the photo, but Colleen's seems to have some yellow on the

rims of the bloom.  It definitely doesn't show that here.  It is always
possible that I have a misnamed plant and don't know it, of course.  It
is
a  popular plant with visitors.  I can understand that since it blooms
heavily  in the clump if it avoids our late spring freezes.
