I have tried many things and have found our hot sun bakes most plastics and
completely bleaches any writing whether permanent ink or paint.  I tried
metal stakes from an old miniblind I replaced.  I cut the pieces and labeled
with a Brother labelmaker.  It is working so far, but am only in the second
season.
