Kathleen and Barrie  --  Your replies to me contained my original message with the photos.  So, just as an experiment, please let me know whether this reply to your replies strips the photos again.

Also, I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who DID get the photos, to see if anything at all is working.  Meantime, I'll try to figure how best to send this stuff to you through the labyrinths of the cyberworld.  --  Griff

I'm not sure why, but the pictures are still not showing.  There are only boxes with a red X in each.

Subject: [iris-photos] CULT: 01S3 and other reds

Kent  --  Since you are interested in red amoenas, I thought I would share the crosses I have made between 01S3 in an effort to spread its genes.  I'm not aiming to get another red amoena from any of them in the first generation, unless there are some lurking complementary amoena genes somewhere, but thought you might enjoy seeing the kind of reds with which I'm working.  So, 01S3, pictured first, has been crossed with the following:

01S3                                       Wearing Rubies                                                    Sdlg 985R4

Will Scarlet              Sdlg 012C3                      Sdlg 02F1               Sdlg Kindle A Flame

Reasons for the crosses:

Wearing Rubies  --  complementary colors and texture and red beard.

Sdlg 985R4  --  complementary colors and texture (This sdlg is very red.)

Will Scarlet  --  complementary colors, "signal red" beard or nearly so, and overall excellent form

Sdlg 012C3  --  complementary colors, blackish velvet falls, red-orange beard

Sdlg 02F1  --  complementary colors, excellent branching and humongous height

Sdlg Kindle A Flame  --  Not quite distinctive enough to be introduceable, but has a lively color that I hope will transfer to 01S3's form.

Now, we hope that the pods don't rot, the seeds germinate, etc.  Well, I've stayed out of the garden too long, so, that's all for now.   --  Griff
