I have great hopes for it eventually looking like that here too - just
give it a few years to get its roots 2 or 3 ft down into the water table
<g>  The fact that it did bloom, is alive, is growing, is all I hope for
in an iris, especially its first year here.

GILDED CREAM was a pretty sorry specimen its first year, too, but you
saw the photo of the glorious clump it has grown into now.
