I think the color on the second one is more interesting, but I'll admit I'm developing a strong bias toward that color. I think that there is some layering of color there that may reveal some more interesting patterns and colors in later generations.
I think the first one looks too much like Gnus Flash, without the BC, and with the same less than desireable form.
