Thanks, Randy, for the rotated picture. Janet, this one reminds me
of Lady Boscawen. The only way to know for sure, as has often
pointed out, is to acquire the possible match, grow them side by side
and compare. Judging from the form and character in the photo, it
looks like a Purissima offspring for sure, but weren't nearly all
whites?
It is helpful to look at the patterning of the haft veins--often a
variety match can be helped along by close inspection of those
markings, as unique in Iris as fingerprints are in a human. Trouble
is, there were umpteen thousand whites of this vintage one could use
for comparison. Since relatively few of them were as clean as this
one appears to be and had general distribution, this might be one of
the better known ones.
