RE: Most popular iris

While certainly we need writers to write articles for garden magazines, the effort can be much more effective if it is coupled with an ad by one of the sections or AIS so that people getting interested by the article can connect with an Iris group. I feel like it is a terrible waste when I see an Iris article and there is no mention of an Iris society, and the section/AIS has not been alerted to the possibility of an advertisement to go with it.

Hi Betty,

That is why I said ‘do you know a writer’.  Hopefully someone we know will go over the article with a knowledgeable grower before submission of the article.  Usually they (the writers) are asked to write on a subject but if they have a good line of communication they can sometimes submit an article of their own and get it published.

No one knows about Rebloomers and they haven’t any idea how nicely our Iris bloom.

Non iris gardeners/writers are writing articles that can be misleading.  An article I received which ran in the Star-Ledger in New Jersey (this past fall) has this paragraph about rebloomers: "They (rebloomers) have typical names like 'Autumn Delight,' 'Autumn Snowdrift' and 'October Shadows.'  All are dwarf types and grow no more than 10 inches.

Although it may not have been the intention of the writer, the impression is left that rebloomers only come in dwarfs sizes.
