HI BOB. I AM SURE, THAT THE DAMAGE YOU HAVE COMES FROM DEER. EFEN SO DEER DONT LIKE IRIS IF THE GET HUNGRY ENOUGH  THE EAT ALMOST ANYTHING.PUT SOME DEER REPELLENT IN YOUR GARDEN AND SEE IF THAT HELPS.ALSO CHECK FOR FOOT PRINTS PERHAPS YOU CAN DETERMINE AS TO WHAT ANIMAL IT IS
