Way to go Dana. Remember last year when
OC was fussing about his Iris not
Blooming ? He thought it was from he hard late
freeze he had had. You suggested that perhaps he needed to lift and divide them,
so last fall with some help, he dug up most of his Iris (he'll dig the rest this
fall hopefully) and found why they didn't bloom. They were rhizome bound.
Hadn't divided them the year before after 2 hard years of blooms. Dug up enough
Iris with fans and enough divisions to fill a large wheel barrow.-----
Replanted about 200 of the ones with fans and mixed
in with 200 divisions alternating Fans and divisions. Wasn't sure if the
divisions would bloom this year or not, but they sure are growing. Hard to tell
which is which
OC is so eager to see them bloom he is beside
himself !! He has had several weeks of good rains followed by warm days. Looking
for 77* this week. After the rains every one of them started putting on heavy
new folliage and are really looking good, a whole lot better than last year when
less than 10% of them bloomed.
After all OC planted he was able to send 50 to each
of three friends and give another 100 to the lady that run the Interfaith
Hospitaliy Center in Rock Hill, which our Church really supports. Looking for
lots of blooms everywhere..
