Regarding ads on yahoo and how to block them

I don't know whether people are still having trouble with ads blocking photos, etc.  My son put a very effective ad blocker on my computer about a year ago.  It doesn't block every ad but it does eliminate most of them.  I have not had a picture with an ad covering it since. 

 

The website to install the ad blocker is called Mike's Ad Blocking Hosts file and is located at:

 

 

As we have XPs he only had to click "here" under the XP section.  There are directions for other PC operating systems and for MACs etc. 

 

What this does is make a "host" file to which ads are directed.  The download holds the URLs (addresses) of thousands of advertising senders.  If the sender is on the list, it redirects the ad to a nonexistant file and it never appears on your screen.  The program tricks the internet into thinking you have received it. 

 

Follow the instructions given on the site.  Hope this helps some of you.
