I use Excell, too.  I'm sure my needs are a great deal different than many on the list.  I have a peg board set up with contact pages full of introductions and favorite seedlings.  I've found it helps the thought processes, and works better than 'memory!'   It's portable.

I use Excel. I have set one up in Access but find I don't need all the
power of access. So for most projects I use excel.
