Hi all,
An iris gardners nightmare was the weather here in southeast Michigan this morning. Rain and wind with occasional thunder, sometimes the rain appeared to be coming down almost sideways.
However growing irises in 2' diameter plastic containers, am able to move the containers into a sheltered garage with the help of a 2 wheeler and sturdy bungee cords. There does not seem to be any side effects from doing this, as today Poet Laureate, Passport To Pimlico, Lemon Curd, Brassie ( not ), and El Torito opened. Also was able to make two crosses 2k2-11 Garden Whispers x Sun Puppy, and 2k2-12 Passport To Pimlico x Poet Laureate. If the irises had remained outdoors this day would have been lost..... all Praise and Glory belong to God. See attached picture 1.
The second attached picture is a container growing Unpretentious, James Bond, Eiswurfel, and Dot Com. They have not been divided in three years, and this is the year they will be as there is little room left for them to increase.
Its supposed to become sunny this afternoon and the winds are to increase, will bring the seedlings in the seedling trays into the garage as well. They needed rain.
I know, I know, I have this iris addiction bad.
