Humor: Ugly Seedlings (was SDB Seedling: M9735-1)

Christopher, I know what you mean. It's amazing to me
that I can take two beautiful irises, rub them
together and produce such UGH-liness. I have dubbed my
little seedling patch "The Dog Pound". To keep me from
getting toooo depressed, I made a game of naming my
wierd, ugly seedlings before digging them and tossing
them on the compost pile.

I had one a few years ago that the blooms were so
deformed it looked torn, snagged and crumpled. I named
this one "Clawed Van Damaged" before I dug it and
tossed.

Another one I had put up a stalk complete with
branches and spathes and never bloomed. I waited all
season and finally tore the spathes open to find there
were no buds in any of the spathes. Wierd! I named
this one "Shooting Blanks".
