spuria clumps

Here are CINNAMON STICK (Niswonger, '83) and JET SET (Williamson '75). The
photo doesn't do justice to what you actually see. I won't make a habit of
posting this large a photo, but this is to encourage people to give spurias
a try. If you want some with spectacular foliage (at least in spring and
early summer) and something you can leave in place without moving for a
number of years while the clumps just get better and better, spurias could
be just the thing. Mine get better every year. These were planted in '99
and just now are coming into what I'd consider optimum clumps. It may not
take so long if you have more reasonable growing conditions. So that's my
sales pitch for tonight. It's a shame I can't get a photo that does them
justice.
