Here is a photo of Tan Lines SDB 2005
This is an amoena that is a luminata-plicata.
The genotype is pla pla pl plu. Co-dominance of regular plicata and luminata
genes , perhaps modified by the two pla genes. Two pla genes as it is an SDB,
which is amphidiploid and the two sets of 8 chromosomes have only pla genes,
no pl or plu genes.
In addition you can see how the yellow pigment seems to be influenced in its
distribution by the plicata genes, with the standards and falls having yellow
on a white ground. The anthocyanin is distributed differently in terms of rhe
ground but together on falls where it is brown. Thus two different yellow
distribution patterns on the same flower.
By the different distributions, I mean the ground colour of the falls is the
same distribution as on the standards but in addition the anthocyanin and a
yellow are distributed the same way on the falls to give the brown which is
sometimes on yellow ground and sometimes on white ground, as seen in the
centre of the falls and around the beard.
