This looks like the same phenomenon we see in 'Joseph's Coat Katkemier'. Parts of the flower are missing the carotene pigments. Paul, did this persist with all the flowers on a given stalk? Might try dividing this clump and replanting all the rhizomes to see if you can get one that is dependably quirky. I think it's a very interesting look! Lowell Baumunk Joseph's Coat attached

No the strange coloring only affected the one flower.....Time will only tell if there is a repeat next year out of the same clump...Paul  

 

 PS I use to grow Joseph's Coat and enjoyed it.
