Hi Linda,
At this point try to find a picture of Crystal
Ribbon, I will see what I can do on Latin Lilt for you. We grow both
Latin Lilt and Latin Lover but I am almost certain that Steve did not get
pictures of them this year but I am thinking more along the line of Crystal
Ribbon. I must run to the Vets but I will leave a not for Steve to scan a
picture of it from the catalog. For what it is worth, it might be the
right one. Another thing to think about, does the place where you
purchased Idol not have Crystal Ribbon. I too keep some of the
unknowns but I let people know that they do not have a name.
Where do you live? What State? I would love to
talk off line about this.

Does anyone have a pic of Latin Lilt. I can't seem to locate a single
pic of it online? The discription doesn't mention the light rim on the
falls, which is pretty obvious on this bloom. Thanks again for any help
that anyone might have!

Dear Bonnie
I agree with
you! That is why I buy an iris that might be it.........when missing a
name and plant next to it. This is the only true way to verify to
me. If they bloom together.....same plant habit, same color,
shape and consistence, blooming side by side....in comparison, they I will
name it. The problem with the older iris, is trying to find a piece to
buy to do the comparisons. LOL
But I have to agree. I
pulled about 4 pictures of Jazz Festival off line and compared to the pics I
took. Looked like less substance, less ruffle and in some pics the
beard color was different. So, I too don't believe it was Jazz
Festival..........so I didn't put out the feelers to buy that
one..........LOL. I have checked some of my older magazines
and didn't find anything yet. But, thanks for some leads to look
into.
I also agree that the integrity of correct names to flowers is
of the utmost importance. Nothing is worse than buying an iris by name
to find out that it isn't what you bought.....and worse
yet...........you have that iris and then recognize that someone fudged
it because it was the same color.........or made a mistake because it
was sold to them that way. I am so careful about labeling and naming
in my beds. I do have beds of unknown. I keep because I love
their displays..........knowing they will always be unknown to me! :)
:) :)
Have a great day!

Hi Linda,
I'm sorry, I was too tired last night to respond to
your picture but I don't think that it is Jazz Festival. JF has alot
of substance, almost like wax. Yours looks like an older iris to me.
Compare to Latin Lilt or Latin Lover. Jazz Festival also is a very
large flower and more ruffled. Do you have some older
catalogs? I am going to look through some older catalogs for you and
see if I happen to notice something. It is my opinion that it is
better to have an iris that does not a name then to give it a wrong name
and share it with others. I am not suggesting that you would do that
but I did know a grower(who is not selling at this time) that did.
He also sold iris as something that it was not if he had sold out of a
variety. Right is right and that jeopardize the integrity of our
business. Remember that I said that was just my opinion
I hope your day is a wonderful one!

Thank Pearl. I found that one and wondered. It appears
that the beards might be a little different....it is always so hard
to tell from pictures. I went searching to find someone who
sells that. I might be able to get it from a local grower and then
I can grow them side by side to be sure. If
not..............it will probably end up going to my neighbor who
friend who doesn't label hers and just plants for nice color and
appearance. :)
