The picture that Thomas Silvers sent is correctly identified by Elm as (aphylla X aphylla Van Nes). This clone, along with an outstanding species-x type iris (I. timofejewii X I. variegata) were bred by Marlene Ahlberg of (I think) Switzerland, an expert on hellebores. Jean Peyrard got them from her and sent them to Terry Varner, from whom I purchased them. I am sure both are worthy of introduction, but don't know how to go about it because I have not found a way to contact Marlene Ahlberg, nor does Jean Peyrard know of one. Does anyone have a suggestion? Here is a photo of the timo X vari.
