I know Anita said to have hope, but I really don't have any. The pod parent
here was my favorite new seedling this year. That aggravates me a bit
because rationally there were a number of new seedlings that I liked that
were surely better. I think it's the fact that it's basically an orange
self and bloomed really well. That may be unique among ABs. If there is
another one out there, I don't know of it and I surely want it if there is!
But the Lyme Tyme X Babylonian Fires is an unbalanced chromosome set plant
and the chances of seeing anything germinate from the seed(s) obtained from
the pod I'm watching are just about nil. It's pods like this one that make
me wish I had learned the process of embryo culture where the chances of
getting a plant would be increased. The brown-red sibling to the orange has
two pods growing using a backcross to BF. Going to be the same hopeless
story. All I can do is plant them and see what happens - or doesn't.
