I'm up early, watching the thermometer continue to drop, wondering what
this kind of late frost (keeping fingers crossed it won't be a freeze)
will do for seedling selection here. This is almost end of TB bloom,
and might be a bit earlier end than I anticipated! :-(

It's a chronic problem here Janet. I know that my seedlings will look
very different when well grown, but have had no idea what that will be
like because late freezes/frosts and heavy dew half the day are almost
always the case here. This good year is giving me a chance to see what
they can look like. Some look better, some are just so tall they have
no chance to stay upright.

I would say take advantage of the opportunity to find those seedlings
that can thrive in the kind of weather you are getting this year to
improve marketability to parts of the country where that kind of weather
is more commonplace.

I haven't introduced anything yet, but have a few that are headed that
way finally. I leave my seedlings at least 3 bloom seasons before doing
any selection/discards unless they are clearly not as good as either
parent for whatever traits I'm after, and longer for rebloom potential,
waiting for a good rebloom season.

Is the bad weather in CA where the convention will be next year?
