Re: HYB:Summer and late fall bloom

Hello Francesca

We live 3kms from where the Waal splits to form the big delta called The Netherlands.
So we are caught between the two rivers .
Condensation makes a lot of dew.

Apart from that, the rain is much less here than everywhere in Holland, sort of micro-climate, maybe because of the dew!!!

We are 120kms inland, so when frost hits, it can be quite severe. And used to last for 4 weeks, without defreezing during the day.

But now, winters are much milder, the frost seems to lower it's grip....

Groetjes to Sven

Hi Loïc, Altho' my husband, Sven, was born in the USA, he was raised in Holland until age 17 when he returned back to the USA. When we receive mail from Holland it appears that it is always raining! This would be gtom Noord Holland, in Haarlem. Is it a wetter climate there then where you are?

Here attached is the average rainfall in mm per month in Holland, that i miraculously found on internet!
(180 mm = 7")

As you can see, it was perfect this summer to trigger rebloom!

Spring was SO dry i had to water a lot in april and may.
There was not much rain this october, but the dew is very very wet close to the river

Couldn't find anything on day and night temperatures yet.

Will keep you posted if i find anything.

This is the list of the irises that rebloomed here for me this year, before frost hit.
Loic,  What fun indeed!  Your garden was enchanted!  These have all been entered into my data base!

Questions!

1) Did you irrigate?
2) What were your average temperatures?  Day and night . . . as best you can.
3) Zone?

Sounds like our fall of 2004.
