Re: TB: Oldies/Portrait of Larry

Colleen, I've never seen that one before.  Thank you for posting it.  It sure does look like a clear sky blue.  Is it a good grower?

It does sound like the flip-flop weather is playing a part in why the irises are out of their normal blooming schedule.  Maybe - - -you'll have a really, nice long bloom season this year!!

We've had an extremely dry winter, which has meant lots of frosts, but also warmer days. eg there is a light frost at the moment, but tomorrow is supposed to be at least 35oC (95oF) as the winds swing round to the North and blow from the hot dry interior of the country.

We have a very Californian climate. Wet cold winters and hot dry summers but not this year. So far our driest month has been August, only 18mm (less than an inch) and this should be our wettest month. Whereas Jan- Mar we had more than usual rain, with 25-35 mm each month.

I've attached another oldie photo. Portrait Of Larrie. For a truly clear sky blue this is almost unbeatable.
