John Weiler nearly died a year ago this November due to a misdiagnosis.
Today, at 86 years of age, he is in good shape, continues to garden and
is as sharp as ever.  He continues to get excited talking about plants and
rebloomers in particular.  I brought him to the Fresno Iris Society meeting
a few weeks ago and though tired he had a great time meeting new members
and visiting with old ones.  He had not been to a meeting in several years
as he was caring for his wife who passed last December after various illnesses
over the past 10 years.
 
He will be giving a talk at the Region 14 Fall Meeting on the 23rd and is
looking forward to visiting with old friends there.

Scarlett, thanks for the info on SDBs that do well for you. They
generally don't do well here in 'the vale', so I haven't tried many. I
hope CAT'S EYE is still ok - it was doing reasonably well until things
got away from me last year with all the rain and weeds and again this
year. I'll have to try these three, & definitely need to rescue CAT'S
EYE.

I can't find LITTLE BLUE EYES in the checklist - is it maybe BIG BLUE EYES?

> Not all SDBs do well in Las Cruces, NM, but many do. MDBs generally don't do well. The few MDBs that I have that thrive are under deciduous bushes. Dot Com, Little Blue Eyes, Sugar Maple, Cat's Eye thrive in full sun. African Wine is a neat little MDB that does well under the Crape Mrytle.
