It may be that lights only affect bloom in the milder climates. In your climate I’m sure the rising temperatures would be the main driver. Here the number of hours of light seem to contribute more. There used to be a street garden in Adelaide (very mild climate) that was planted directly under a street light and that would flower up to several months early (no rebloomers)

Very pretty pink for sure, Robin.

Colleen, we've always had a very bright yard light here, quite near the iris beds, but I've never noticed ! it affecting the bloom.

Hi Robin

Very lovely pastel pink. Would love this to rebloom.

Here it’s an over-all early season, but coupled with this we also have a street light, now, on our front corner. So we have a lot more early bloom than usual. Some irises like Soul Sister and Tiger Honey, I have in both the front and back garden with about 2 weeks difference in bloom time. This should make breeding easier as I will have a wider range out at anytime.

Weather has been unusual in Salem this year.   The very late spring did not help the seedlings mature in time for their normal spring bloom time.  There have been seedlings in bloom every day since May.  This is maiden bloom on an 09 seedling- Magical x Mystery Blush.  Maiden bloom timing is not all that great an indication of rebloom for me, but it would be very nice if this proved to be a reliable rebloomer for September.

Two SDB seedlings which germinated this spring (March '11) are putting up stalks.  The advantages of a more favorable climate are already showing up!
